handy for the station and an alternative to waiting a lifetime to get served in the station bar. Hydes Ales kept in decent nic.

Friendly welcome and well-kept Hydes and guest ales. Real coal fire adds to the welcome.

Automatic pub to call at after the Buffet Bar. Beer usually ok and live music from mid evening at weekends, add to the attraction.

Traditional pub with 2 Hydes ales. Near the Station so worth a visit after the Buffet Bar.

A traditional type pub just under the railway bridge. Open fire going in August (although the weather possibly justified it!) and quite a large beer garden to the side and back.
Well kept Hydes cask ales. Worth a visit.

Supposedly the pub with the shortest name in the country, and has a plaque testifying to this. Not too sure if this is without the 'The' and 'bar' prefix/suffix. Inside it's fairly open plan and modern, although the exposed red-brick walls are of some interest. Hydes bitter and the house beer, 'Q-ale' both very acceptable. Sky sports is shown and a decent atmosphere prevails. Just beneath the railway station so if you can tear yourself away from the Buffet Bar you could do worse than come here.

Good reasonably priced beer.
Some friendly bar staff and fairly efficient service.
The live music is occasionally good, but far to often is overly loud or just bad.

Decent little pub, nice open fire and a brilliant outdoor area.

Decent selection of live music, some great some not! Better than no music though. Regular Beer festivals are always good fun, and the dogs are friendly!

monday nights require earplugs.
At the bottom of the staircase there is a sticker saying 'Keep Music Live' and I agree fully 99% BUT not here on a Monday night, a mouth organ played crap is painful.
And in reply to RS below, why do you think so many people watch telly? And why do you use an enormous van to transport a 6 inch pitch pipe! why not put it in your pocket and buy a train ticket! cycle, walk,bus.... hippycrite!

dissappointing to see so many punters travel here for Monday night 'Quack' by car when there's a fully functioning Railway Station next door operating to most areas 'til late and a Bus Station one minute the other direction.
Also why is there so many people watching the 'footie' on the telly when we have so much local talent playin' live music for you.

My Mate used to be on the bar staff in this bar. Not bad, a bit fake/plastic but agreeable if your not bothered about your surroundings...

In Guinness Book Of Records for shortest pub name. Sells Stalyvegas T shirts. Has art on the walls.
