The best-kept ales in the area, I thought. The St.Austell's Trelawny was a delight.

The customers were well mixed in age, cheerful and amiable.

I think this place is worth 8/10, so I'll do what I can to get it that.

I've been out-of-season a lot and I like it.

It's mainly a hotel bar, but usually busy so the beer's turned over. I've had lovely pints of St. Austell's there.

The bar food is above average quality, I had a very succulent tasty steak.

Polzeath is a youngsters' attraction and the patronage reflects this with chipper, high-spirited groups.

It seems to be styled along Aussie lines, perhaps to go with the grain of surfing "culture".

I'm surprised at the low rating so give it 8.

Although obviously geared up to take advantage of the tourist trade, this is a pretty decent boozer with attentive staff and well-kept ale. Cheery atmosphere but I imagine it can get a bit hectic in high season. Worth a look, though.

Great views across the bay. Friendly staff, good selection of beers and Rattler! Great place for a couple after a surf.

Great atmosphere and incredible views of the bay. We had a very tasty meal that was good value and the staff were friendly. I want to return in Spring to watch the sunsets from the terrace.

The Oystercatcher used to have a great atmosphere before the refit. Many an evening was spent in there getting trashed on the HSD!! The only trouble is the young Hooray Henrys that turn up from Rock trying to get served during their private school holidays after being dropped off by Mummy in the 4x4!!!! I'm scoring it a 6...it would have been a four had it not been for them selling HSD!!

Great pub in a great location. Also truly honourable staff. After one particularly intrepid session I found that I'd lost my wallet. Retracing my steps next day I got to the pub and it was handed straight back to me complete with the 20 note I'd had in it. Which I then spent getting hammered again.

Further to what Tim Bannister mentions this is not the only pub in Polzeath. There is also Carters and The Doom Bar (aka The Atlantic)

Got chucked out of this pub when I was 16! (Long time ago now). Stunning views from the patio, and large window. Amazing sunsets. From the beach, it is a sharp climb up a steep hill, but well worth it.

The best pub in England! Really friendly management and a spectacular view. Go there for a great post surfing experience.

A good atmosphere although sometimes does take quite a while to get a drink! A great place to go after a day of surfing.

the vodka and spirits are cheap but the pints are dear. on a good days surfin the bar is packed and it can take 45 mins to get a drink. but the staff are helpful and the food is very good.

The only pub in Polzeath. Has a family room with arcade machines, and a jukebox.
