please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Having tried the White Hart on our last visit to Pirbright the Ramble Then Lunch team decided to give the Cricketers a whirl.

And very different it is too. The Cricketers is quiet...very quiet. Only a couple of customers came in during our fairly lengthy stay. The sofas and high tables, the retro ceiling lights, the curious panelling on the bar all made me feel like I had been transported Life On Mars - like back to the seventies. All very odd.

BUT - The beer was good. London Pride, Gold Muddler and Squires Gold were all available. Menu was fairly standard but the food quality was really good. Battered Fish and home made burger all went down a treat - indeed my fellow walker enthused to some degree on the standard of his cod. Staff member was friendly.

So where it matters The Cricketers is spot on. And let's be honest, there's not too many pubs these days where fans of Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Yes can feel right at home.

Let's hope it gets enough folk through the door to enable it to stay open.

Popped in with the family during the recent Scarecrow Festival. Nice little pub - no gastro pretensions, just an honest boozer offering a range of decent ales. Would definitely go back, especially if the chap cooking burgers is outside again, selling superb burgers from the butcher next door.

I have visited this pub several times with the wife. The ales are top notch. I have drunk Ringwood 49 'er, Doombar and 6X. ALL were excellent. Went the other night and had two steak meals with a bottle of wine for 25. It was beautifully cooked. The log fire was roaring and the locals were plesant and chatty as were the staff and the landlord. Recommended.

Pride (3.20), Tribute and Ringwood Best. Board stated Boondoggle on next. Smart inside, tables outside overlooking the green.

Visited the pub with a walking group, intended to stay for a pint and a meal but both food and drink were expensive. Certainly not a friendly pub, in fact I don't think the girl spoke English, so although our group were the only visitors we did not stay. Very disappointed, will not go back, and reading comments on this and the other two pubs in Pirbright glad we are not locals.

Quite a nice pub, Berr is well kept although expensive, a warm welcome when you arrive as long as it isnt the landlord. Decor looks a bit like a cheap bistro but an improvement. Won't be going back in a hurry. Rate it with a 4

Visited on a warm May evening and they had Tribute on as the special (third) ale which was exceptional. The Shere Drop was also drinking beautifully and I have to say I've never had a bad pint here, although recent price hikes means that I don't visit as often as I'd like. The recent decor change is not to everyone's taste, but the pub is well worth a visit for the ale quality alone.

Our walking group have been looking for a really good pub in Surrey, this is not it but as Surrey pubs go it is better than most. From the outside it looks the part, enter and the guts have been ripped out. Modern open plan, food not exciting but passable fare and the beer is ok. As mentioned before Fullers and a guest ale. But where is the soul of the pub. Maybe I am getting a little too old. At least it is free of a wide screen plasma TV. I don,t want to be too hard but if this was my local I would probably end up drinking at home. I am going to give it a generous 7, but I would not go back.

Friendly pub. Ideal start and end point for country walks, opposite the car park and duck pond. London Pride plus two guest cask ales. Lunches available, not exciting but acceptable, but note they end at 2 p.m. weekdays, 2:15 pm weekends. Smoking and non-smoking sections.

Situated on Pirbright village green, with pond opposite. Walker friendly - the best of the three pubs in Pirbright for ramblers. Three real ales usually Greene King IPA, Fullers London Pride plus one guest which changes frequently. Varied food menu from sandwiches and snacks to full meals, all at reasonable prices.
