Worlds End, Almerback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Decent out-of-town pub with decent food, great for Sunday lunches, but get there early as space is limited, friendly youg staff make this place worth a visit.

A large, roadside Hall and Woodhouse dining pub, typical of its kind, clean, well run and welcoming with the usual range of Badger beers. My two pints of the seasonal Hopping Hare were first class even if they did try to serve it to me in a 'ladies' glass. My wife's definition, mine was earthier.
The food was what you would expect, certainly not locally produced, but was well prepared and presented and did not seem to be micro-waved. Not a life-changing experience, but hot and tasty, just what we were looking for, nor was it expensive.
A word of warning, at busy times get there early, it's a big pub but is well-known and popular.

Recently my partner and I visited this pub as it it was a firm favorite. When we arrived there was no one there to show us a table, which not usually the case. We then got seated and noticed the menu had changed, but we went along with chosing our food.
The food arrived, I had ordered the special off the board of chilli and pasta. Personally I was very dissapointed with the dish it was like pasta soup swimming in sauce. My partners meal was okay, the scampi was nothing to shout about.
I have to say it really was awful, this pub used to be superb. September 2007.

We visited twice last week (April 07). The big attraction for us was the gluten free food on offer - a separate menu with a range of starters, mains and desserts. It was busy on both nights and we were very satisfied with the food (lots of locally sourced products), the service and the atmosphere.
Worth making a booking if you want to eat here - limited space inside, but also lots of tables outside.

I've been coming to this pub since I was 17 (17 years ago!). It's my fave pub in Dorset!
I love the warm atmosphere, the lovely home-cooked food (not bunged in the microwave or taken out of the freezer like other big pub chains). They have a lovely range of real country wines in lots of lovely flavours. And a great range of real ales, plus all the usual popular drinks.
I've always found the staff to be polite and helpful, plus they have a good range of gluten/wheat free meals - which is so lovely to be able to choose without constant questions to the chef, and taking their life in your hands when you eat there (or eating Gammon - again!)
I disagree that it's not a proper pub, there's a bar, that you can sit at and a seperate eating area. OK, it is no smoking pub, but so what? Every where's going to be no smoking from this summer anyway; and for me there's nothing worse than tucking into a lovely meal only for it to be spoiled by a table of smokers lighting up (cos they've finished THEIR dinner) and tainting my food with their fowl smelling carcinogenic smoke.
Real open fires, lots of olde world fittings and the whole place is thatched, plus it's reputed to be the oldest pub in Dorset! The Wolds End gets a big thumbs up from me! I'll be going there for the next 17 years!

Have visited several times this year. Always a warm, friendly welcome, excellent (and plentiful) food reasonably priced, good beer & great choice of wines. Staff are genuinely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and service is efficient even at the busiest times - which seems to be most of the time! My only complaint would be I really wish the seating was more comfortable, although I suppose it's in keeping with the style of the pub. I'm sure I shall return again soon.

Have popped in on a couple of occaissions, found rthe food excellent lots of veggie options, yes it is a bit like a restaurant food fast but simple, the Sussex Smokey has to be tasted to be believed, Only tried ther beer once as am always driving but if you like Badgers its OK. Staff always helpful and polite.

The food has gone down hill from my last visit .The steaks that my party of 6 ordered were all tough and not to our liking. This is very unusal as i,ve been there before and had a good meal.On leaving i heard from another disgruntled customer that they had changed their butcher from somebody local to somebody in Portsmouth,so much to looking after looking after your locals.I will in future be going to free houses in the local area

Good food, good service. Went for a "smaller appetite" main meal followed by a dessert, left feeling full. Only drawback it's totally non-smoking inside.

Well, I thought it was pretty good for a meal. Tends to be more of a restaurant than a proper pub. Food is good and quite reasonably priced (especially the smaller appetite items). For a good meal come here; for a good drink go elsewhere.

Contrary to what others have said I love this place. They have a reasonable selection for vegetarians, have a gluten free menu (you have to ask). You can sign up to get a voucher for a free bottle of wine with your meal for your birthday. Menu less extensive than it used to be, but several items still have 'smaller appetite' options - if you want to have room for a desert you definitely need to go for the smaller appetite meal.

Have eaten there a couple of times, and found it generally satisfactory. It is a road house (no bookings taken) and the service is geared up to be brisk and efficient rather than overly-welcoming. The food, however, is good if not particularly exciting and beer OK.
As for the atmosphere; the pub burnt to to the ground about ten years ago and was completely rebuilt in the style of the original. Although very well done, it does lend a slightly artificial air to the whole place.

Food overpriced, no 'pub' atmosphere, staff can be rude. I'd rather go somewhere else.
