We found this gem by chance. We have a Motorhome and were looking for a nights stopover on the way to Derbyshire. We really landed on our feet here. The new landlord Richard couldn't have been more obliging or helpful. For a donation to charity......or the odd pint or two, you can park your Motorhome in their ample car park at the rear without charge.
However you won't be disappointed with the facilities. The bar and toilets are very clean and tidy and more importantly allow dogs! They have a wide variety of real ales, which, if you come from London are very cheap! The crowning glory is the on-sight Indian restaurant/takeaway, which is frankly one of the freshest and tastiest and I have ever eaten.
You can relax in the bar with a pint while you wait for your takeaway order or be waited on hand and foot in the restaurant.. I had the lamb shank, and my husband had the Ceylon, cooked to your personal preference.
This place is a must for overnight Motorhome parking in Nottinghamshire

When you visit a pub for the first time you wouldn't really expect all the locals to jump up with open arms welcoming you like a long lost relative would you. So don't expect it at the Ranger. However, if you make the first move, you will find most of the locals very friendly and more than willing to have a chat, play pool or give advice about the pub and the area. The Ranger is the best pub in the village due to the current tennants, Terry and Elaine who have worked tirelessly to make it a great success. The girls behind the bar are all gorgeous, the beer and food are great and there is a nice mix of regulars..from young, unemployed to successful millionaires and that sort of mix makes it an interesting place to be.

Yes the pub has changed - there is two distinct groups of people who go in the pub.
The old men and women who think they are something and the 'youth' element who cannot handle thier drink. Shame really because at one stage it looked like as if we had a good pub in the village at long last

The pub has been refurbished (very tastefully!) and opened up - with a terrace on the front. It has new management and some new staff. This is the best pub in Ravenshead now - there is no clique and the customers talk to newcomers!

these locals thing they are above normal people,my wife and I visited it about a year ago, were totally ignored by locals, very cliquey I found and unfriendly to people not know to them,we live in the village and they all seem to think they are superstars or something

Unusual pub in that it has three seperate bar areas. A lounge bar, public bar, and a function room. Pub also has a skittle alley.
