sky sports, efficient staff, not a bad Guinness
loos could do with attention, was almost gagging in the gents

The girl serving has to be the most proficient bar-person I have ever seen, at one point she was serving four people at once.
Well done her!

A home to Scampi Fries. Smart, clean hostelry, seems to be well run and the Youngs Ordinary was decent.
One of the better places in cheery Epsom.

not bad but too expensive.

Nice place to go, friendly atmosphere but the beer could do with a bit of attention. often tastes like the lines haven't been cleaned. Barmaid has a cracking set of lungs and, as they say, you don't watch the mantle piece.....!

brilliant pub, nice beers, friendly staff and regulars, great layout and a bowling machine YAY! shame about the live sport being the focus of attention but still great atmosphere and a top place to go. 9/10

This pub is not brewery owned and as such the landlord, Neil, has done a great job in keeping this a cross between a traditional pub and a classy modern contending bar. The beers are a little more than a couple of the nearby pubs but well worth it for the atmosphere. It offers quite nice food, traditional pub games such as darts and table football and is one of the few places that still serves Scampi Fries!! The backroom of the bar is spacious and comfy with nice leather seats and a relaxing enviroment. The beer garden is split level decking and in the summer time offers a nice bit of shade to relax out of the glare of the sun and even has a BBQ. Trouble is rare in this pub as a heavy hand on drunks and hooligans is kept at all time. Probably within the top two pubs in Epsom.

Great great food that is home cooked, not bought in from a caterers. Brilliant pub.

The nicest pub in Epsom town centre. Well kept beer, friendly and efficient staff, pleasant decor, very clean and no Pikeys! A nice place to go with friends or to just sit and read the paper.
|
Another good pub - well kept ales keep me here many a night. Friendly landlord, and lots of seating (to rear). Clean bar, up together and traditional. 18 - 80 would be comfortable here. 8/10

Strangely fond memories of this place when it was called The Magpie. But I was young then and didn't have particularly high standards...
Anyway, this place is OK these days. I just feel it's lacking a little in atmosphere. Decent enough but you wouldn't plan a cracking night out there.

Great Pub, Great Beer. Friendly Staff. Landlord thinks hes good at Table football.
|
I've always liked this pub, as it's well-presented and has decent beer. It's been a while since I've been in there so I can't vouch for bar staff behaviour, but the times I have been in it has been fine.

what has happened,
wheres the fun, regulars are getting annoyed by neils rudeness.

a good place, good food, good drink and good service. www.symondswell.co.uk

Well I don't know where Paul Jones has been but it's certainly not the Symonds Well in Epsom. Had one of the best pints of Speckled Hen in ages just the other day, and if Neil was rude to you, I'm guessing it's because you deserved it

cant believe how much this pub has gone down hill. The lads that worked there have left leaving the manager to be as rude as he likes to customers. The food is awful and the real ale is never on

Has re-opened - although a great deal of money has been spent on the refurbishment, The Symonds Wells has lost a lot of its charm! Looks like every other stereotypical boozer in Epsom. Good choice of lager, ales etc. and the food is not too bad either. Sadly, the girls are no longer working behind the bar and they have been replaced with a couple of guys with no sense of humour. This pub still has 'old' pub hours - open between 12 and 3PM on weekdays and opens again at 5PM(?) till 11PM - you have been warned! Thankfully, Mike (the Landlord) is still there and runs a tight ship.

Apparently this pub is re-opening next week! Hopefully, the pub will still remain a top quality boozer that serves good beer and has top quality staff. The last couple of months have been hell, as the Wetherspoon, Albion, Vestry, Casa, Yate's etc. have all been piss-poor alternatives - overpriced, gassy lager and full of pikey's!!! Please god, I hope they don't turn this boozer into another theme pub with the people behind the bar having plastic personalities.

One of Epsom's better venues. Keeping fingers crossed like Mike that the refurb doesn't ruin the place. Decent pint, decent staff and the locals are a friendly bunch. Cherish places like this, especially when they're in an endangered decent pub zone.

Closed for refurbishment - will open again in April 2004! Good pub without the usual tracksuit wearing kevins and sharons. Friendly atmosphere, good beer and not too pricey like the Yates, Casa etc. Hopefully, when the refurbishment is complete, the Symonds Well won't be turned into another stereotypical Epsom boozer!

Slighlty pricey but less full of complete pikeys like most of Epsom is.
If your in Epsom and need to escape the kind of clientele that inhabit the Wetherspoons and Chicagos.
