The Mulberry, Chiddingfold

Lovely pub. We went there about seven years ago for a drink on the way home to London. Vowed to go back to eat but never did. Now live only a few miles from it and we finally got round to going for lunch.

Lovely pub, nice original features brought sympathetically up-to-date. Staff very welcoming and treated the dog almost as well as they treated us (drink and a plate of biscuits while we were still deciding what to drink). Nice range of ale, lager (Hog's Back TEA, Langham's Halfway to Heaven, and Peroni on draft), and good wine list.

Food is not cheap for a pub but it is top notch pub grub. Calve's liver was superb and the pork loin in Parma ham (might have been panchetta actually...) was fantastic. Desserts were equally sumptuous; sticky toffee bread and butter pudding, and baked Alaska. Cheese board looked great but that will be next time.

And there will be a next time.
