The Fentiman Arms, Kennington

Not quite sure who the previous reviewer was looking at when they said the manageress was gorgeous. In fact, the manageress is the biggest gripe I have with The Fentiman. The pub is nice with a good garden and good food (although slightly overpriced but as its London you kinda get used to it!). The manageress on the other hand is what turns me off going to The Fentiman.

When she is not there, the staff are friendly and chatty and the atmosphere is great. When she is there however, the atmosphere is flat. She strides around the place looking down her nose at customers. She never smiles and is regularly rude to customers. It is almost as if you have just turned up in her front room uninvited and she cant wait to get rid of you. I once asked a member of staff to put the football on the TV and she was having trouble with the remote control. She offered it to me to sort out, but before i could press a button, the manaeress came stomping over saying "what do you think you are doing?". I explained but she was having none of it and snatched the control out of my hand. With that, I put my half-finished drink down and walked out. Will only visit now on the manageress's nights off! Shame because other than her this is a great pub.
