New Inn, Durham

I'm struggling to find anything positive to say about this pub.

There is a relatively wide range of lager, bitter and RTDs, although no real ale.

The food is not pleasant and during lunchtimes the whole pub will often fill with the stench of burning fat. The beer garden is essentially the carpark next to the main road and it is shaded in summer evenings.

I suppose the atmosphere is generally young and friendly, although there are lots of other pubs in Durham that offer far more.

The Victoria Hotel, Durham

This pub is divided into three small rooms - each with a coal fire - which ensures a cosy experience on any winter evening.

The memorabilia from Queen Victoria's reign gives a unique feeling, which is completely different from most pubs these days. It is a grade 2 listed building.

There are usually at least 4 or 5 real ales available and behind the bar is a very impressive whisky collection.

If you're passing I'd recommend you pop in and give it a try.
