Profile information

I am traveling the canal network of England at 3 mph. I have visited over 100 pubs since October last year and sampled 142 different cask ales. I have been out of the country for 25 years, but in that time CAMRA has done an amazing job on the quality of English Beers.

The Horse and Groom, Lincoln

Under new management july 2008. The pub has moved on from its previous image and has a welcoming atmosphere. Two well priced cask ales, a varied menu with a 2 for 8.00 option, extensive beer garden, and welcoming management make it a pleasant change from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Bayford Waterfront venues.

The Fools Nook, Macclesfield

The Fools Nook has the most pleasant atmosphere of any of the over 100 pubs which I have visited in the last 9 months. The food is terrific, but it is the people - Pat my waitress - IS THE LICENSEE! Her husband is the Chef and everyone else is part of a big happy family (maybe not so big)I do not normally have a nightcap after my evening meal, but here I had a dram of Oban just to delay my departure. Best wishes for the future to all at Fools Nook.
Bob.
