The Castle Hotel, Tonbridge

Been going to the Castle fairly regularly for the last year or so and I am surprised at the previous comments (and no, I'm not one of the aforementioned chavs!). The staff operate a no swearing policy which is clear for all to see and surely this makes for a better atmosphere?? Very busy on Friday and Saturday nights but a good atmosphere overall. If you want a quieter drink visit during the day or on a Sunday. The food is superb with a varied menu (The Castle Burger is particularly good). Personally have found the staff and manager to be really friendly!

The Poacher, Tudeley

Have to agree that this is not a pub to visit if you want standard pub fare at standard pub prices. But why would you? The makeover of this pub is exquisite. There is a small area dedicated for non-eating visitors or for pre-eating drinks. The decor is fantastic and the staff friendly and well-informed on both food and drink. I have now eaten here five or six times and have never been disappointed. It's not cheap but worth every penny in my opinion. I would highly recommend you visit this pub if you like well-presented, full flavoured food in a contemporary setting.
