The Kings Head, Stutton

Despite our first reservations, the Kings Head is a lovely little pub. Complete with beer garden and kids play area. Smoking throughout apart from a large room off to the left. Food is served and looked nice but I don't know the exact times. Occasional guest beers. On 10th August 2005, there was Adnams bitter and Greene King on hand drawn pumps along with Carling, C2 (Carling's weaker little brother), Worthingtons Cream, Guinness, Caffery's, Grolsch, and a cider (can't remember which). Huge amounts of bottle drinks. Huge bottle of House Whisky which was sampled often - nice but strong! I assume wine was also served but no I knew actually ordered any. Bar snacks and cigars available too.
Before we arrived the place was empty, infact I don't think I ever saw more than 3 locals in there. I later found out from another local that the locals dislike the barman who apparantly has no life to him. After spending 3 weeks visiting the pub I can easily disagree! Duncan (the barman) was a legend, while a little slow, he was a nice chap and always asked how my day was...even if it took him 3 minutes just to say it. Expect a big lazy dog in the corner who never moves from the floor next to the slot machine. Also watch out for random barrels by the bar.
An empty pub missing that little bit of atmosphere (that us 50 Scout Leaders brought - we were using Alton Water just down the road for the European Scout Jamboree).
Please visit if you have the chance, just down the road from Jimmy's Farm (from BBC 2 programme) and make a day of it. Lovely part of the world and I can't wait to return.
