Kings Head, Sutton Valence

We look for Real Ale pubs as we enjoy well kept Ale. After reading the latest reviews we noticed one paticular thing about the Kings Head,the ale is great. So we head off to the pub on sunday which is a 20 mile journey for us. First impression was the car park which looked like a scrap yard. however when we walked in we were hit by lovely decor and furniture and a hearty welcome from the barman. The ale was absolutely spot on!!!!! Well kept,perfectly poured with laces down the glass for every mouthful. Maybe a little colder than i like but then you cant have everything. We did wonder why they had courage best on offer but again thats personal taste. The London Pride and Youngs were superb. We were careful about eating because of the reviews but we then thought we should. If the ale is that good then surely so is the food. My wife went to powder her nose and as she walked past the carving unit she saw the chef carving meat and picking bits off the joint with his fingers and eating them while talking to the customers. She came back and firstly said how lovely it was to see such clean toilets but then told me about the chef. We decided not to eat!!!! I went to the gents and like my wife I cant remember a pub with such lovely clean toilets. As i returned to the bar I could see a woman in the kitchen doing some cooking and licking her fingers. That did it for us both. No food. I will add that the reviews say its a quiet pub. From our visit I would argue that case. It was very busy and they were taking money. I gamble they could take more if they ironed out a few creases. We know pubs show sport but the TV was to loud but again a personal thing. Mr Landlord if I were you I would get your kitchen staff in line and play a more active role in your business. Well done you. The Ale is great the pub is great you only nned to sort out your kitchen staff and you will be rich. We will moniter this site and we will definately be back for some more of your perfect Ale. We hope you take our criticisms in the manner they are meant. Lovely pub !!!!!
