The Ship Tavern, Holborn

Usually seek this place out when in Town. On this occasion I was a tad disappointed; a couple of the beers were 'generic' rebrands leaving few 'quality' options. Pork pies and chutney etc was still cracking stuff. Friendly spot, well used, I'll go again.

The Bree Louise, Euston

My third visit to this pub. I normally sit outside but the weather was wet and cold so we sat inside next to the side door opposite the Gents. The outside door was opened every minute or two by the 'gasping' fraternity and the closing strap didn't function well so jackets were a must. Ales were OK, not as good condition as last time but nothing to complain about.
Pies were stews with a top crust therefore technically 'cobblers'. Tasty though unfulfilling. East European (?) barmaid was a tad aggressive when informed that the pint she just poured should have been a half, I felt obliged to accept it even though it was her error. It's the first time I'd felt taken for granted with a 'like it or lump it' attitude. However, I'll go again.

The Cross Keys, Covent Garden

I always make time to visit this pub whilst in Town. Courteous staff, small samples offered before choosing a pint. On this occasion, the pub was busy as usual but we managed to find a small spot to stand at the end of the bar. Only Brodies ales on offer this time. I like a hoppy pint but these were dryer than the Sahara; definitely an acquired taste. Expensive, but you expect that around Covent Garden.
