The Old Kings Head, Borough

This place seems to have come on again in the last couple of years since the smoking ban (some may miss that), refurbishment and (I think) a change of management. Friendly and staff serve a decent choice of ales which looked clear and seemed popular. The Guinness is also solid. On the flip side it does have an emphasis on sport (though they can split the screens and show something other than premiership). I would avoid the big games, especially when local giants Liverpool or Man Utd play for the tourists and (though Ive not seen anything go off) theres sometimes a whiff of old-school naughtiness roundabout saturday lunchtime as visiting fans refresh en route to the New Den, Selhurst or Charlton. Generally a belting spot if youve time to kill near London Bridge and certainly the least pretentious 'proper' boozer in the area.
