The Barge Inn, Seend Cleeve

Have been to this pub on a couple of occasions. The service at the bar is a bit disorganised but I am sure that this is down to lack of training. Did have a small meal which was fine. Big problem though is one that is shared by other pubs and that is KIDS. Everywhere running about etc. When are pub landlords, staff and most of all the parents of these ankle biters realise that a pub is primary for adults.I have not got a problem with children in pubs that are well behaved and keep to their seats.Trouble is a great deal of the parents seem to see a pub as a play area for these brats. Sadly the pub staff either dont care or past caring about approaching these parents and telling them to keep these kids under control.I shall not rush back to this pub for a future visit despite it having one of the best locations by the water in this area.

Foresters Arms, Melksham

Read with interest the writers comments of 22 july 2007. It really is a bit of a grim pub with the average age of the drinkers being 18 (possibly with a following wind). The more intersting comment was that there are no decent pubs in Melksham. Believe me...the guy is CORRECT. The place is a dump !

The Hand and Shears, Barbican

I was very disapointed to read the bad revues on this pub.I haven't been there for some time and due to moving further away from London I do not know when I shall get back there. I went to this pub every so often a few years back as I had got to know Arthur who runs the place.Granted he's a bit of a charactor but I always enjoyed his company and beer. I have also had a meal there with friends and it was fine. The location is great and the style is as a pub should be.No noisy kids running about and totally without pretention. Maybe the previous comments made about this pub were made by pushchair pushing yuppies.
