The Salutation, Hammersmith

Reading in the H&F News this week that Rob will probably be leaving -Fullers are you totally insane? Rob and his team have made this pub what it is, a fantastic watering hole on a dreary street in Hammersmith, serving excellent Fullers beers. The food is good, very good and very reasonably priced, ok not gastro, but good pub grub. Does Hammersmith need another food orientated pub, when most of us want a good down to earth pub.

Also, in H&F, Durn only mentioned "football", Rob shows cricket, the Cheltenham Festival, Grand Prix, Rugby, etc, are we only going to be able to see Chelsea, Liverpool, Man U and Spurs? Some of us support QPR, actually quite a lot of us, and when it's on the telly we come in to watch as do lower division clubs when televised.

Another question for Durn and Fullers, will we still be able to watch the football results between 3 and 5 on a saturday afternoon? Will we still be able to sit at the bar, on a bar stool, and engage in meaningless conversation?

Reading between the lines, I do not think that Fullers are giving us the full story! Whatever happens, I urge Fullers with a passion not to take away the only traditional pub left in Hammersmith (you only need to look at whats happened at the Andover). On a final note, I can only thank Rob and Freddie for there excellent service, quality beer and making my local truly "local". I wish Rob every success and happiness in his future.

The Salutation, Hammersmith

Romfordandy, since your last visit I think you will find that Rob, the guvnor, has had at least three bar staff changes since your last visit. Although fairly new, they seem to me a nice and friendly bunch. Give it another try as it is still the only decent pub in Hammersmith, serving the best Fuller's beers in the area.

As per many comments posted on this web site, why have a whinge after your visit and not mention it to the manager at the time of your visit?

I must confess it is my local, and assuming that it remains as it is, then long may it reign as my local.

The Hope and Anchor, Hammersmith

Lezbot - are you insane or just damn right spiteful? I would probably suggest the latter. I have always found the Hope very welcoming and friendly. I do not know your reasons for such hatred towards the place but maybe you should have the guts to visit the pub and put your views to the girls face to face. But then you are probably gutless - and fat, and ugly!
