The Ditton, Long Ditton

The biggest problem with new pubs is setting the scene to encourage a specific clientele and this pub doesnt seem to know what it wants. The Dittons interior conforms to a modern style while still upholding traditional features, however the drink prices dont reflect those of a local homely pub as they match those found in a chic London bar, and this pub definitely isnt.

Although the staff are friendly and the service excellent, it does little to cover The Dittons lack of atmosphere, due mainly to many local customers having been driven away by high prices and resulting in a mostly deserted bar and restaurant. The wine list provides the perfect example of unnecessary overpricing, consisting on many standard wines found for 4 at the local supermarket; being sold for 14 and upwards.

The food is The Dittons only saving grace, with many well presented and tasty pub classics, but sitting to eat these dishes in the poorly maintained garden, the ever empty restaurant or the utterly lifeless bar, destroys every intention of the pub providing an up market and enjoyable experience.
