The Boatman, Guildford

This pub us now the Boatman and previously Weyside which despite the old picture which at the time of writing is still displayed on this site. I would avoid this pub. We visited with friends for Sunday lunch. It was dead with lack of people and atmosphere. Plenty of unhelpful staff though.

The menus were wrapped in plastic and very basic but expensive offering. Tables and chairs cheap and nasty. Service was generally terrible with long waits despite the place being very quiet. During the courses our waitress must have gone for a cigarette break and returned stinking of stale tobacco.

The food was tasteless and awful. To top it all we asked for a selection of the usual sauces to accompany the meals e.g. mint, horseradish. They were 'dumped' on the table in those wretched little packets!!!

The Weyside used to be quite nice but sometimes pricey. You would now be better off in a Beefeater (which I personnally cannot stand).
