This has been my local for many years and has changed over time. Still a friendly pub with a good atmosphere especially since the smoking ban came in ;)

Food is ok and now that they serve in the evenings aswell it is much better, sometimes I would go at lunchtime only to find the kitchen is closed which is a shame because many local businesses use this place for a bit of nosebag.

Beer is ok and seems to be kept well though often after one or two pints of cask ale it may run out and there is not another barrel ready to go on.

The cellar is not used so all the beers are kept outside in the old stables and because the pipes are not buried very deep you can find either very cold in the winter or over warm in the summer except for the chemical garbage of course ie Fosters. Stella et al.

Toilets stink.

This place was a much better pub back in the days when it was called the Mount. Configuration was much better, clear drinking and eating areas, much larger bar area and could easily be put right by taking down the false walls. These days it is more of a restaurant trying to be a pub and sometimes the other way round. Toilets always seem to be flooded and not that nice, well the gents anyway. Staff are ok but as with all underpaid young staff, tend to ignore us oldies and serve all their mates first. Having the smoking area directly outside the entrance is a bad bad idea as everytime someone comes in or indeed if the door is propped open, you have to suffer someone elses smoke.

At weekends it tends to be populated with youngsters and on the half dozen times I've been here recently there has invariably been a scrap.

Not for me Ronnie!
