Sam's Chop House, Manchester

Great pub just off the throng of shoppers, good atmosphere and the ales not bad too, choice of 3 I opted for a festive Santas Special, couldn't see the pump to identify the brewer. Popped in on a Sunday, quite busy but served quickly, not too many dining, there was a band on later, blues I think. Depending on where you sit in the dining area you might have to put up with people passing to and from the toilets.

Going to call back another Sunday and stop for the band, think it could be quite a good night.

The Cask Bar, Castlefield

Funny place, much better inside than the outside suggests. Popped in on a Sunday evening on our way to a tv recording at Granada for a quick pint, 2 Titanics and one other, forgotten the name but it was the one we had, very happy with it. Great music on the jukebox, worst thing was the toilets but you don't spend more than a minute down there anyway!!

The Devonshire Arms, Kensington

Was working in Kensington for a couple of days and popped in here both nights, the second time to eat. Really nice pub, food was superb, ox cheek pie in a red wine gravy with colcannon mash. Lovely beer garden with heaters, ale was spot on, great atmosphere inside and out, would agree with others that is is one of the better pubs around.
