The Exmoor Forest Hotel, Simonsbath

We went for Valentines weekend (with the dog) and it was a lovely setting in a beautiful part of Exmoor. We had a wonderful time, the only disppointment was the breakfast, it took a long time to arrive, the tomato ketchup came in sachets rather than a bottle & the chef had forgotten my bacon.

The Merry Harriers, Clayhidon

We went for a meal a couple of weekends ago on a Friday night. The food here always used to be fantastic and we used to come here 4 of 5 times a year but this time we were really disappointed and we won't be coming back. My french onion soup tasted of hot water, no seasoning at all and was practically see through. The mushroom starter also lacked taste. My chicken curry as a main course didn't taste of anything. The only course that was good, was the steak.
We were very disappointed.

The Hankridge Arms, Taunton

This restaurant has recently been taken over so we decided to try it out. I went on Saturday night with two friends and the food was absolutely delicious. The chef is excellent and the portion sizes were good, we were too full up for pudding, but the pudding menu looked lovely. We sat next to the log fire and had coffee in the bar afterwards I would definitely recommend it for a good meal, the best place in Taunton I've been to for a long time!
