Den Engel, Leek

The Den Engel is lucky that it is the only pub in Leek that stocks specialist beers. That is why it is popular. If/when another specialist pub opens in Leek, it will then struggle for a number of reasons. If you are going to stock specialist beers, your staff should at least be able to pronounce the names of each beer and have a little knowledge about each one. What could have been a beautiful interior ended up having chipboard on the floor, a second rate paint job and the victorian fireplace boarded up. The landlord and landlady would be at home at Fawlty Towers and the whole pub smells of the filthy toilets. It has good beer, shame about the pub. Hurry up Titanic and open a decent pub in Leek.
