Great pub with very friendly landlord and very pleasant and helpful staff. Meals are 1st class and the choice and range of ales is excellent. One minor point, the real ales tend to be chilled which means that you don't get to appreciate the full taste.

This pub closed when the smoking ban came in during 2008, as it did not have an outside smoking area. Last used in TT week to sell T shirts to bike fans.

George Hotel, Orton
Good choice of well-kept ales. Friendly staff, even though we only ordered soup for lunch after getting soaked on a walk from Shap, the chef gave us a free plate of roast potatoes to go with it!
