The best beer garden in Croydon, and the most colourful characters. polite staff, authentic furnishings and the cleanet pint of stella in Croydon (though you do pay for it. Worth it though). Thoroghly recommended!!

The Edge, Croydon

This used to be the best pub in Croydon. USED to be. The thing about it was the Manager. He had personality, and he employed pleasant staff with personality and good taste in music. The music was chosen by random members of the team and was always top notch. The beer was good. Needless to say this pub attracted the right sort of crowd, resulting in a chilled out atmosphere, friendly people laughing all the time and enjoying the fine food and drink and games. Then, seemingly overnight, a new manager appeared. He is very rude. All the staff left. The new staff, who don't seem to know what they are doing, or communicate with the public, do their best, but you get the feeling they don't enjoy their jobs. The music is now just awful. All the games have gone. And all of the regular crowd have gone. Last time I was there, the only people in there were the unpleaseant people who were barred under the old management. It's amazing how such a once great pub has become so unwelcoming, and even threatening. And the beer doesn't taste right either. I suspect the pipes aren't being cleaned to often. A real shame.
