A pub that tries to be all things to all people. At best it's only going to be mediocre - and sadly that's what you get.

Worthy of a visit only if it's on your doorstep.

The Shibden Mill Inn, Halifax

A nice pub tucked away, but worth the effort of finding. Food is good, beer is even better. I recommend the Moorhouses "Shibden Mill Bitter". This place still has some soul, with locals frequenting, and a slow turnover of staff - a rare thing these days.

The Crown, South Moreton

Not been to the Crown for a few years as we were aware of changes in ownership, and apparently that pub had gone downhill. Dropped in on a sunny Saturday afternoon to see for ourselves, and found that apart from a couple in the beer garden, we were the only customers. What a shame.

This pub used to be very busy at weekends. There was no food - unable to get a Chef apparently. The guy behind the bar was the sole member of staff. The pub is currently being run by a holding company, having had 4 landlords in the last year. He's trying to build up the trade, before yet another landlord tries his chances. Beer (6X) was good, but with slow trade it's clearly at risk.

I wish Wadsworths all the best in restoring this pub to it's former glory, it's in a great location, and if they get the food back on they have a chance. If they can do this pretty quickly, and take advantage of the Summer, there may be a chance for the Crown, if not, then I fear it will go the same way as many others.
