The Clarendon Bar, Londonderry

Solid respectable bar - tends to be frequented by teachers and solicitors; teachers being locally limited in their choice of pub, due to the risk of bumping into their pupils locally!

There is never any trouble in this city centre bar and it tends to be frequented by a clientele who are mainly middle aged. If you're in your twenties and are looking for some local talent, you'll most likely find it a bit staid and conservative. If you're after a night where you can get a seat and be assured of being served, while being in a place with a buzz, you'll quite like it.

Badgers, Londonderry

Badgers is in a convenient location - just next to the Foyleside shopping complex and provides an ideal venue in which to break from Christmas shopping. It's got a buzz about it, without being crowded and has long been a popular bar in Derry. The bar staff get the balance right of being inviting, professional and friendly and any one from any community would be welcome. I don't know anyone in there but have always been treated well and made to feel welcome by the staff when having a drink in there, which isn't always the case in a pub.

The food is highly regarded by people living in the locality and seems to be very good value.

It's not the kind of place you'd go drinking if you're under 35 - it's a respectable pub and the clientele are that bit older.
