The Three Crowns, Chippenham

As per Inky48's comment - a gem of a pub and just getting better! 6 ever-changing ales, at least 4 real ciders on in the back bar (not my poison so an approx tally), plus genial hosts, friendly locals - not many pubs you can walk into on different nights of the week, find different people each time and walk out having made new acquaintances.
Beer range is varied, always at least two dark ales on, which is commendable in this day and age, food is offered in the form of fresh filled rolls in a basket on the bar and a reasonable selection of crisps, nuts etc.
Definitely the best pub in town for ales and ciders.

The Eagle Inn, Abbotts Ann

What a find! Popped in here at the weekend whilst visitng relatives in the area to find 2 Dark Star beers alongside Betty Stoggs (permenant) and one other.
Two chatty landlords behind the bar, seem to be doing a great job having only been there less than 18 months. Beer on good form, not sure as to whether food in the offing. We will be back!!

The Cross Guns, Avoncliff

Walked out here at the weekend with a few friends for a couple of pints and lunch. Amazed at how popular it was - a good sign I always think - yes there were queues for food, but then, this isn't a huge pub and we weren't clock-watching. Beer was very good, something for everyone and the little hand held pager which went off when our food was ready for collection is a great idea.
Good old fashioned pub grub, friendly staff, great beer - we will be back!
