The Swan, Westgate

The outside pub boards state in large lettering, families welcome, but once inside you see large printed notices stating by law children aren't allowed in the room with the bar, and also another one that says children until 14 aren't allowed to use the pool table. On a sunday afternoon we visited just for a drink and some crisps, told we couldn't sit in the bar room with our child, and were directed into the pool room which was full with other people watching the football game. There was nowhere nearby to put our drink, and it all felt an inconvenience. My advice would be to avoid if you have a family. They really need to remove the families welcome sign from the outside of this pub.
