The Anchor and Hope, Charlton

I bloody love this pub. Living in Charlton, its my favourite Charlton pub and I've drunk in most of them. There is always a friendly welcome from both the locals and the staff and thankfully they certainly know how to run a pub! In fact its getting better all the time.

With regret we tend to use it more in the summer (fairweather friends) as we enjoy being able to sit outside (smoke) and watch the water traffic go up and down. Sunday afternooons there is always a party atmosphere down there. Sometimes in the summer they set the entertainer up outside and when the sun is out, its a great way to spend an afternoon with friends. Good roasties on the bar too.

Anyway ive blathered on too much, but its a real hidden gem in South London.

The Rose and Crown, Trent

I think someone listened to your please alehouses. The pub is now under new management and trade is roaring apparently. Will be heading down soon to check out the new menu.
