The Horseshoes, Upshire

Friendly village pub offering food that is better than a lot of the so called gastro-pubs there are around.
The menu seems to gravitate fairly strongly towards fresh fish and every-time I've tried it, it has been excellent. The sunday roast is equally good, though you may want to fast for a day beforehand :o)
I've tried all the varieties of ale they sell and am happy to report that all are kept in good condition.
The staff on the most part are welcoming and helpful. The regulars can sometimes be a little loud in the evening, but then again, this is a village pub and it is hubs like this that preserve village communities.
It is in a nice enough location, but as stated by rpadam, the beer garden out the back is a real treat. If you hit it on a quiet summers day, you can while away the afternoon in serenity with fabulous views over epping forest and london.
I've been back a few times and will keep doing so whilst the formula stays like it is.
