Reading all the comments below, I think something big must have changed recently.
End of January 2010, my partner and I arrived at the pub at 2 on a Sunday afternoon. It was busy, but still a couple of tables free. I had a nice pint of ale, and we ordered from the extensive menu. I had the cavery roast, and my partner had fish. Both were very tasty, and even though they filled us up, we tried the deserts: the cheesecake of the day and a plum crumble. Both were exquisit.
Couldn't fault the food or the service.
We are definately going to go back there
