The Grape and Grain, Crystal Palace

This used to be my favourite pub in the Palace with its' superb selection of ales, friendly staff and CAMRA discount. Unfortunately, the landlord thinks it's a good idea to put crap blues bands on Friday and Saturday night who play too loud in a venue that, as mentioned below, is simply not acoustically suited to live music.
I e-mailed landlord expressing this opinion and, to his credit, he replied, stating more cash is taken on nights when live music is played and, at the end of the day, it's money that matters. Pity.

The Perseverance, Holborn

Chose this pub for birthday celebrations as it doesn't get too crowded on a Saturday.
Despite a fair amount of money going behind the bar, the pub's staff were constantly hassling our party to pass empty beer glasses and trying to usher people out of the pub before "drinking up" time; when we'd left the pub and were saying our goodbyes on the street one of the bar staff asked us to move on (time was about 11.15!)
Staff have alot to learn about how to treat paying customers.

Decent pub, shame about the clueless bar staff.
