The George Inn, Hubberholme

Very old inn in remote and scenic location. Accommodation left a lot to be desired. We were put in a room in an out building with out being forewarned even though we had asked what the room was like over the telephone. The room stank of damp carpet and was dark. This was a dishonest act and there is no way we would have gone there if we had known. It was also well overpriced. The food is average- the kind were they serve a pointless bit of old salad with everything. I concur that the landlord is a little like Mr. Fawlty. The landlord is greatly benefitting from being in a superb location. The hills will always be there..and remember there was a different landlord when J.B.Priestley went there. On the plus side the bar is atmospheric and has good beer. We wont stay again.
