The Red Lion, Teddington

They've finished the huge renovation, but somehow it doesn't look any better(the dark green was a mistake) and if they were hoping to attract a differnt sort of clientele - not so far, from what I could see. Shame, a good quality local pub here could do very well but this won't be tempting me back.

The Queen Dowager, Teddington

Had an unintentionally hilarious evening here, after meeting with a couple of friends for a quiet chat. The young barmaid was very pleasant but completely untrained (or had never actually been in a bar before): asked us what the difference was between slimline and ordinary tonic, had never heard of bitter lemon and had to ask me how to make a shandy (although I'm sure my instructions didn't include pouring 1/4 glass of beer then wandering off to do something else). It wasn't a busy night, but every customer came away from the bar looking even more baffled than the barmaid.
