The Deptford Arms, Deptford

Mr Scott, you are quite right, Arms is very reminiscent of Windmill!

On a first visit we saw live music from low fi locals Hexicon, second visit we enjoyed the sun in the lovely spacious garden.

Signs outside advertising football fixtures are to be ignored unless you support the bar manager's team (whatever it is, it's not Liverpool!)

When we went, tv in one corner showing darts, projector tv in the scruffy sofa/stage area showing match, both presided over by an ear-splitting blast of 'Barmaids Cheesy Hits of the 90s' mixtape. Not fun.

2 pints are a bonus, and bottles of London Pride and Bombadier are available but no ale on tap as yet.

The Birds Nest, Deptford

Great little pub, very loud when bands are on, so not for a quiet drink if you visit on the weekend!

Nice selection of bottled ales, and Deptford's usual mix of colourful locals and art student types.

Pool table room, and loads of flyers and posters for local gigs, along with a few more tourist-y leaflets intended for people staying at the hostel upstairs.

Smoking area out front leaves a lot to be desired, but it's a sign of the times.....
