Old Ox Inn, Blandford Forum

Visited while on holiday in Dorset. Very friendly, family run, pub. Really nice home cooked steak pie. The 2 draught beers (Doombar and Ringwood bitter I think) were well kept. Old pub but with a lighter feel about it. Has its own skittle alley. Gorgeous view from the beer garden of Hambledon hill and its prehistoric hill fort.

Admiral Rodney, Swadlincote

The pub is a traditional, friendly village pub offering 5 real ales. Marstons Pedigree and 4 ever changing beers from local and national craft breweries and the older independent breweries.

The landlord tries to keep at least one hoppy, golden ale, a browner ale and a dark ale always on tap. They won the Burton & South Derbyshire District CAMRA pub of the year award in 2007.

There is a quiz night on Fridays, karaoke on Sunday, and other seasonal events.

The rear of the pub looks out over the Hartshorne Village Cricket pitch where you can relax with a drink and enjoy watching the village team on a warm summer afternoon.

The pub serves traditional Sunday lunches. It is advisable to book. They run a Cheese Society Night (As featured on Radio 2's Chris Evans Show) every 1st Monday of the Month at 9:15pm onwards, everyone welcome with their portion of cheese.

Chesterfield Arms, Hartshorne

Histman is quite right. The pub has ceased to be. It was just a pile of rubble but even that has now been cleared away. So long Chesterfield. Not like the old days when Frank Mitchell ran it and people knew it from halfway across the county. He took a little, old beer house and made it into a thriving pub with one of the first family beer gardens in the area.
