The Six Bells, St Albans

This is my local and i love it. It is a warm friendly place, with good service, good beer (they now serve Hoegarden) and GREAT food. The only bad thing is that the portions of chips are so huge but taste so good that i feel stuffed after eating there. More willpower required i feel. The other thing to look out for is when Deaf Shepherd play there - good rock covers in a lively atmosphere. Its always packed out.

Mokoko, St Albans

I think that there are evenings when a girl wants a few fancy cocktails and a night out with her friends. And St Albans does not have many of these kind of places so i welcome this bar to the city. I agree its not in the same league as some of the local pubs but if you want that then go somewhere else and have a beer with your flat cap and paper. Leave the seats for the rest of us who like a change occasionally

The Fighting Cocks, St Albans

The food is simple but usually good and the best thing about it for me is that is serves food all day on a Sunday. For those people like me who always just seem to miss the food serving times for the sunday lunch, this is better than the waffle house down the road as an alternative eating place. The added benefit is being able to walk off the excess food and beer around the lake after.
