Probably the only decent place to eat in the area. Bad experience in the Tilbury, the Grandison a bit brash and pretentious, White Horse not particularly friendly, Plume - yuck! Ale is also good here, and the manager very droll.

Rather shabby and questionable hygiene. Grubby fingernails, coughing into hands before serving and no sign of hand washing. Not pleasant at all. Food fairly cheap, but when you think, you can get nicer microwave meals cheaper from Waitrose, why bother? Although the serving staff were pleasant and courteous, the management were quite loud and obnoxious. Typical pub chain I suppose but very disappointing for the area.
