The Peacock, Bakewell

Went in the Peacock because it had a sunny beer garden and seemed well patronised. Was appalled at the price of 1.5 pints of bitter shandy: �5.75! I'm sure I was ripped off; I queried the price but was told it was correct. I've had cheaper drinks in Gleneagles Hotel. Add to that, I watched the unsmiling staff make the drinks and they had about as much beer in them as a can of Shandy Bass from the chip shop.

I definitely got the feeling that this was a place that treated visitors to the town with contempt. Won't be going back.

Smoky oppresive atmosphere been significantly improved by creation of new windows opening out onto street.

Quality of crisps matches quality of beer, i.e., good!
