The Devereux, Temple

Very nice pub just off the beaten track. In the upstairs room the smell of the kitchen was a bit too invasive though and not good if you are not dining yourself. I'd have preferred it to be more enclosed. The food delivery system ssemed a bit haphazard too. Very good beers though. On the drinks front I can't fault it.

The Green Man, Fitzrovia

One of the best finds of the year for me. Excellent range of beer, aless and ciders and the staff are knowledgeable about them and very helpful. They are not quick but that is because they take the time of day to talk to the customers and have a real friendly vibe. Great decor, but the acoustics at the back are a bit difficult when crowded. Arty interior and REAL people with a apssion for what they are doing. Best to go at the weekends when the office people aren' t there, and it is peaceful and relaxed.

The Fellow, Camden

The decor is cold and unwelcoming. They call it "modern" but the colours grey and blue are not very cosy. It is on a noisy road, at the dodgy side of Kings Cross, but now this corner is being rapidly redeveloped and will be changing a lot over the next 5 years no doubt.
Expennsive wines for what they are. No bitters or ales or traditional English Beers at all, despite a mention of "ale" in their marketing blurb. Just the very usual lagers and Guinness.. They stocked Westons Organic Cider which is the only thing I liked about this place. An enquiry to them about the ales or bitters they stocked was sarcastic and ill-informed, telling me "of course" they sold them as they *were* a pub, (which I thought was a bit rude and patronising) and then listing a selection of lagers! Tsk. If you need a pub around here , this isn't the one to go for in my opinion. Maybe they are still finding their feet, but I think they have started off on the wrong foot.
