The Red Lion, Avebury

My husband and i booked to stay on 25/06/2007 and was disgusted with what we were presented with. The smell of the place was horrible what they claimed as "rustic". Then we seen the state of our double bedroom first of all it was freezing (and that was not because of the ghosts) with the windows not been able to be closed and the rot of the wood. So to keep warm there was two portable heaters that did not work. The walls and ceiling were held together with sellotape. The sofa and bed in the room must have come off the local tip.

And the worst thing was we had to pay them to stay there i think they need to pay someone to stay there. Needless to say we asked for a refund which we got and spent a fantastic night in the Marwell hotel for less money.

We felt the story of the hauntings of Florrie were all lies it is just to get people to stay there. As even the well she supposively was thrown down was where the tomato sauce was kept and even if the stories are true this is no way to present them to the public.

In my opinion no person should stay there as it is a waste of money and time to get there.
