Profile information

A Bucks beer drinker with a penchance for porters and other robust characters. I am sylph like and have a shadow like sillouhette which belies my beer drinking propensities. I am happily married and live in the barren beerless land of Winslow. Fortunately, the Fox and Hounds is not too far away in Stoney Stratford.

The Fox and Hounds, Stony Stratford

Great beers and a friendly place whatever time of the day; the food has improved as has the decor. The pub has developed 2 personalities - the public bar for all the ruffians and their assorted games and the saloon for families and couples wanting to have a quiet meal in smoke free surroundings. I can think of nothing better than a few pints at lunchtime and then crusing the extensive high street and visiting the local charidee shops for some eclectic bargains.

The Bell, Winslow

I always feel this place could be so much more; it's the main pub in the town but seems to be resting on its laurels. It's a Greene King pub so has Abbots on tap which is always in good condition. Trouble is, there's nothing else worth drinking; there's usually a guest beer too, but nothing to right home about. The food is a bit samey and the locals all seem happy with the inevitable baguette and chips. Winslow needs a really good pub with good beer and good food; the Bell could be the place but it needs to get a bit more revved up.
