The Exchequer, Crookham Village

Visited this place today, lunchtime, and was almost shocked by the change - for the positive - since I last visited. The place was buzzing with punters and there is now real ale on offer (check the website to get a free pint). Menu looks like it has had a bit of thought and the owners are clearly trying hard. The renaming as 'The Excheqeur' is quite amusing - good pub sign (can't often say that these days). Worth a thought if you live anywhere near Fleet area. They are also promising to get loads of real ales in...

The Prince Arthur, Fleet

Just to weigh in on BroSilvest's side, it's just
such a shame that a place can let itself down on something so simple. Must admit to judging places a bit on general cleanliness (what are the toilets like, soap?). Tables that are sticky are a cardinal sin in my view. We have all seen it and it just makes you think, nah.

The Queen's Head, Dogmersfield

This pub actually has a nice location. There's usually a decent real ale on. I've never really understood the gastro thing going on, but the earlier poster is quite correct in that it used to be a gastro pub. Personally, I find the baguettes a good bet, though a tad overpriced. I'd only go to this place on a good summer's day. Staff (from somewhere in Eastern Europe- most likely Poland) try hard and deserve to be cut a little slack. As I say, mellow place on a clement summer's day. Pride of Romsey was good. Kroney can go down just fine. Just don't expect a gastro experience.
