New Delight Inn, Blackshaw

This pub has the grumpiest landlord around. Run by someone that doesn't really want to be there, it's about time he passed it over to another member of the family, but unfortunately his son doesn't want it. Renowned in the area for bring a miserable git - I had first hand unpleasant experience of the geezer a couple of months ago.

Admittebaly, it was a busy evening but it doesn't excuse the way I was spoken to by the nasty unpleasant landlord. Having gone into the pub to get me and my partner a drink - it was a cold evening and we were outside . I wanted a pint and my partner wanted a hot drink. Nothing wrong with that apart from the fact they don't do hot drinks - don't pubs like this ever move with the times! Anyway, I asked if I could get a glass of red wine with hot water in it (like a hot toddy or mulled hot wine). Didn't want much, just a glass of wine with some hot water from the kettle. Landlord said he couldn't do. I suggested he just put the kettle on for a couple of minute to boil a bit of water and I didn't mind waiting. He said it would take half an hour, so I replied "what, to boil a drop of water in the kettle that is directly behind you?". He said, "look mate, we don't do it ok" I asked politely again it would only take a minute, at which stage he took the glass of wine and proceeded to top it up with hot water from the tap ! Yes that is right, from the tap!!

I shouted, "hey, don't put water in it from the tap mate, that's not the way to do it and not a good way to treat your customers", he replied, "it's fine, I have a a clean hot boiler the water is fine" (in a gruff nasty manner), "whoa man, please don't do it" and he did. What's more, the water was not even luke warm, He ruined a �3 + glass of wine with shitty hot warm water from the tap. Not only that, he then snatched my �10 out of my hand before I had chance to demand a fresh glass or refuse to pay for it. Hence, at this stage I was so annoyed I actually swore at him and said he didn't didn't deserve to run a pub and suggested he get out of business, and that I would never go in there again.

Hence, he lost my custom, and the friends that I was with outside. First class ****!

I thought this may actually have been a one of incident but since heard that he is always a miserable old man to his customers, unless you are one of his pleb regulars !
Avoid this pub like the plague.
