The Otter, Derby

The Otter is nicely situated and is very enticing. Inside the pub is very nicely laid out with great views across the river. It is warm and friendly inside with good seating arrangements. I have visited three times in the last 6 weeks. The menu is attractive. However, the overriding theme is 'cold'! Maybe I was unlucky, but my main course has always been cold. On my last visit the meat was hot and the mash was cold. Even the red wine was freezing! On one visit, several other diners sent their meal back because it was cold. If this could be addressed I'm sure the Otter would go from strength to strength. I won't be going back until I can be sure hot food is being served consistently. If they can achieve that, I will visit regularly.

The deserts are usually excellent. Staff efficient though slightly charmless. Good range of beers but serving cold red wine in my opinion is inexusable.
