The Coombe Cellars Devon, Coombe in Teignhead

We booked a table for 9 with a view and we got a table with a view but rather a poor one at the end of the restaurant and the best tables with a view vacant. The service was very slow although they were very helpful and pleasant. We arrived at 1.00 and didnt finish until 3.15 even though it was not crowded. Food was mediocre - beer battered haddock was soaked in oil with slimey batter, good chips, salad instead of mushy peas (yuk) wasnt even a garnish quantity. Burger was overdone and not eaten. Two baby scallops as a starter - not impressed. Cheese was �6.50 for three little portions of unidentified origin - one was dried up mousetrap - all from fridge so tasteless.
Very good wines but no desert wines.
Shame as very welcoming and not expensive but just really rather poor.
