Ye Old Sparrow Hawk, Fence

Lovely, clean, family friendly country pub with good selection for beers. I do a lot of walking with the Family and Dog and previously we feel we have to avoid some pubs in this area because of their attitude (will happily take your money if you are eating, but want you straight out after). Spoke to the staff here, very friendly and happy for us to just sit outside and have a drink whilst watching the world go by.

The White Swan Hotel, Fence

This pub used have a reputation 20 years ago for a terribly offensive landlord, it closed and reopened 3 or 4 years ago, but the new staff/owners seems to have the same bug. The beer is OK and the food looked quite good, but it is all spoiled by offensive, rude and obnoxious staff. There are far far better pubs just a few hundred yards away, so in my opinion say well clear
