The Punch Bowl, Mayfair

Better than expected but nothing special. Deuchars IPA was good but why the old fashioned jug? We're not all old fogies you know. They even gave out handled glasses for G&T! What's that all about?

Guy Ritchie was holding fort with some of his mates but who cares?

At 3.75 a pint it's not cheap but neither is the area

The Ship, Tower Hill

This is a pub that feels right.

Go in most evenings and you will find people chatting, laughing and socialising not only with each other but with the bar staff too.

If you are a stranger you will be greeted with a smile and served just as quick as every one else.

Go in alone and if you want to chat someone will always chat back. Try it, it won't hurt, honestly.

Oh, and by the way, the beer is first rate. Four ales on tap and all tip top.

The Curtain's Up, West Kensington

So much better than it was a few years ago. Sharps Cornish Coaster and Doom Bar were both very good. The place is looking spick and span and decorated nicely througout. The bar staff quickly remembered our round and were polite and helpful. Little bit posey now but not such a bad thing with good beer and service.
