The Exmouth Arms, Exmouth Market
A solid default late drink. Clientele are an eclectic mix of the lost, the misguided and the simply plastered. Atmosphere around closing time was reminiscent of a field dressing station during Napoleon's retreat from Moscow. The desperation was palpable....though hope remained in the eyes of a cheery moon-faced little chap I observed delivering a lengthy monologue about a trip to Sun City. Apparently it's not a city. Who'd have thought it?
